This Michigan Couple Celebrated Their Love with an Outdoorsy Ceremony: The Real Wedding of Autumn and Kyle Heppner

Despite being over 2,000 miles away, Autumn and Kyle first connected on Christmas Eve in 2018. Autumn was scrolling through Instagram after the family festivities were over for the day and spotted Kyle holding a monster fish. As Kyle would tell it, Autumn 'slid into his DMs'. Their first date was to a brewery in Oxford, Michigan, but they realized a local dive bar was more their style and continued the date there. The two spent many dates hunting and fishing and exploring the outdoors before Kyle proposed in December of 2021 at Autumn's favorite bench spot at her family's cabin!
 

Autumn truly looks like a country princess in that fabulous gown! Having been to the bridal shop where she found her dress for several bridesmaids' dresses in the past, Autumn knew she would be able to find something that matched her vision. "As soon as I walked in and told her I wanted a princess gown, she was excited to work with me! I found the perfect dress after trying on three other ones." Autumn raves. "With the help and happy tears from my mom and little sister, I knew it was the PERFECT dress!" Autumn left that day feeling like her fairytale wedding was just beginning. We think she looks absolutely stunning!
 

Since Autumn is a wedding planner, she had her entire wedding vision ironed out by the time she got engaged. "I thought I always wanted a fall wedding, but when our venue was booked for a couple years out, we opened the idea up to a winter wedding," Autumn shares. The venue was one of the first details Autumn knew she needed once she saw a wedding there on Instagram. When they saw it in person, both Autumn and Kyle knew it spoke to their personalities. Being outdoorsy people, they wanted a rustic wedding with pine and sage greens as well as other plant-based colors. 
 

 

What we Love

What made it special for Autumn and Kyle was the amount of love they received from family and friends on their big day. The couple gushes, "The love we felt from everyone in one room! I have never felt more love in my life. The words spoken that day–from our vows to my dad’s speech to our maid of honor and best man speeches–we were just surrounded by so much happiness and love!"
 

 

Advice from the Couple

Autumn and Kyle advise, "Enjoy EVERY single second! It goes by so fast! Don’t sweat the small stuff, it is one of the most important days of your life and you don’t ever want to regret something. Step back when you can and look at the room, look at the smiles, look at the love being shared in the room and just soak it all in because the day and night will fly by! Just try to live in the moment and enjoy it!"
