Mikayla of Imagery by Mikayla J first thought of this shoot as she was helping her sister plan for her wedding. This elopement style is a dreamy boho alternative to a traditional large gathering. “COVID-19 has added an extra layer of complexity and uncertainty to event planning and I understand that many brides have had to alter their wedding plans,” she adds. "This shoot was created to spark creativity for the wedding vendors involved and also give hope to the brides who have changed their plans. It was a way of saying ‘You can do this, too!’”

Mikayla predicts that the trend of elopements and mini-ceremonies is here to stay. “The wedding trends of creating intimate wedding set-ups will now be a forever thing because of COVID-19,” she says. “I believe this styled set-up is tangible for any bride looking to downsize and that it can be the framework for a beautiful wedding!”

We love the texture of this bride’s attire. From the fluffy nature of the gown to the soft detailed stitching of her jacket, this playful look is here to stay! Her braid is boho at its best! Paired with neutral tones of makeup, the model positively glows in the evening light.

The Michigan sunset was a key part of this shoot’s color scheme. The variety of greenery and white blooms harmonized with the orange of the setting sun. The team went thrifty and stopped by a thrift store, scoring some major design pieces that entirely shaped the tablescape palette!
