Romantic and Modern Elegance in Black and White: The Real Wedding of Christy and Ryan Phillipp

As Christy proclaims, she and Ryan are another dating app success story! They met on a dating app in 2021 and have been together since. While dating, Christy and Ryan took frequent trips to Lake Geneva for weekend getaways. On one such occasion, Ryan hid an engagement ring in the spare tire compartment, knowing it was the last place Christy would look. While they were away, he asked her to marry him!
 

When Christy first began dress shopping, she wasn't sure what she was looking for. "The dress was not what I imagined myself in when I first started my search," Christy admits. Before she got that magical feeling, Christy tried on twenty to twenty-five dresses. But, when she tried hers on, Christy knew that this dress was the one. We think she looks absolutely stunning in the simple yet elegant satin gown, and we love the unique detailing around her waist!
 

After they were first engaged, Christy and Ryan knew that they wanted to book their venue and set their date right away. Something that was important to them was that they would get married in the spring with a short engagement, which meant that they had to plan their big day in less than a year. They ended up choosing their venue from personal experience of putting contests at its beautiful golf course. Christy and Ryan knew it was the place for them to start their next chapter!
 

Once they had their wedding date and venue in place, the rest of their vendors seemed to come along easily. Instead of website reviews, Christy and Ryan relied heavily on word-of-mouth and personal opinions they found in local Facebook wedding groups. "This way, we were getting feedback from people based on personal experience versus someone just promoting their business," Christy explains. One of those highly recommended vendors was their photographer, Danielle Schury Photography. We are obsessed with how she captured every detail of their day with an elegant eye and a light-centered style, which makes the happy couple truly glow in all the wedding photos!
 

With the vendors all lined up, all that was left to plan for their wedding was the theme. "I always dreamed of having a modern and classic wedding—simple, yet elegant," Christy shares. They settled on a color scheme of classic black and white to play off the elevated air of the venue's spaces. We love that they chose black bridesmaids' dresses as well as tablecloths which made the white florals pop. With plenty of glassware and romantic candles on the tables, their elegant yet dreamy wedding came to life flawlessly!
 

 

Advice from the Couple

Christy and Ryan advise, "Enjoy the process! Get your primary vendors booked first and then focus on the details. Although it can be
stressful (especially in those last 3-4 weeks leading up to the wedding), try not to sweat the small stuff. Focus on yourselves and what you want the day to look like and push everyone else’s opinion to the side (and believe us, you’ll get opinions haha). We never believed the people that told us that the day comes and goes so fast until we experienced it ourselves. Do your best to spend as much time as you can hand in hand throughout the wedding—the day is about the two of you, after all!"
